Both Liverpool and Bayern Munich are on the hunt for new managers in the summer and Xabi Alonso has been mentioned as an option for both clubs. Now, however, it seems that he chooses to stay at Bayer Leverkusen for at least one more season.
Several British media now state that Alonso is no longer in the running to replace Jürgen Klopp as Liverpool manager this summer. Instead, Sporting coach Ruben Amorim and Brighton coach Roberto De Zerbi are two options Liverpool are considering, according to The Telegraph.
The Liverpool Echo has the same information and transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano agrees that Amorim is high on Liverpool's list.
Bayern Munich's honorary president Uli Hoeness also does not believe in Alonso this summer.
– It will be difficult, not to say probably impossible. I can really see him staying at Leverkusen. He probably doesn't want to leave now. He works for a club that is on the way to becoming German champion, says Hoeness to ARD according to Sky Sports.
